I'm gonna assume that the first checkpoint is, tyically, after level 10, which I currently can't do so I have to keep typing in the first 10 answers! 
anyways, what's the deal with the level? Not even a slight hint on what we're supposed to be lookin' for! |

There are clues both in the title and the filename of the image which should give you more than enough information about what the next password is.

Well, try not to overcomplicate it.
The two pictures relate to a particular element, and the smelting may refer to the event of those elements coming together. You haven't forgotten your chemistry already?
